Let’s Tackle Your Hair’s Post-Winter Dullness

Feeling dull and dry after a cold, bleak winter? Chances are that your hair is, too!

Now, there are a whole host of ways to combat your hair’s post-winter dullness and dryness, both in and out of the salon. Because no two heads of hair are the same, I’ve put together 6 different options for you to choose from, to help add vibrancy and shine back into your hair!

Six Remedies For Dull & Dry Hair

I’ve broken things down into two categories: one that covers steps you can take out of the salon, and one that covers in-salon options! There’s no rule that states that any of these are mutually exclusive, so play around with picking and choosing what sounds best for you, and create your own regimen ✨

Out of the Salon

1. Increase your use of moisturizing products.

Dry and cold air in the winter and post-winter months leads to dry hair and skin. Replenish your hair’s natural moisture by using a moisture mask in addition to a moisture-based shampoo!

I personally use the Unite moisture line. Click here to check it out!

2. Add in a serum or shine spray.

To seal your strands and increase your shine, make sure to hit your hair with cool air after blow drying it. You’ll also want to point the nozzle down the length of your hair to decrease any frizz! Always keep your air direction moving from your roots towards your ends.

Once you’ve styled your hair, add in a serum or shine spray. This’ll help to give your hair that natural vibrancy and glow, while also sealing in more moisture!

In the Salon

1. Request an in-salon treatment.

Of course, you’ll want to opt for a moisturizing treatment, but I personally love combining a moisture treatment with a clarifying treatment! Both will work together to remove impurities and product build up from your hair, while also replenishing and hydrating it.

2. Add a mini cut.

Mini haircuts do not affect the length or shape of your hair! Instead, they work to remove split ends that can make your hair look dull or dry. Sometimes, a mini cut is all you need to achieve that bouncy, healthy hair again.

3. Add a gloss.

Hair glosses offer an INSTANT shine! The best part is that they stay in the hair for weeks, if not months.

If your hair is feeling dull and dry but you’re not in need of a color touch up, try adding a gloss into your next appointment! It’ll serve to amplify your existing color, and add to its shine.

4. Go warm.

Warmer colors reflect light differently, which helps to make your hair appear brighter, shinier and more vibrant! Try adding a bit of gold to your hair color the next time you go in for a touch up - the added sparkle is always a benefit ✨

Here’s to a happy, hydrated end of winter and early spring!
