How to Make Your Holiday Hairstyle Last

Ahh, November! The crisp air, cozy sweaters, and hot chocolate nights—what’s not to love? As we dive into this chilly, festive season, I’ve got a quick and easy guide to help you keep your holiday hairstyle looking fabulous for days. But first, grab your favorite mug of hot chocolate, curl up, and let’s settle in ☕

6 Tips to Make Your Holiday Hairstyle Last

We all know how precious holiday moments are, right? Between running around between family gatherings, festive parties, and cozy nights in, no one wants to spend extra time washing, blow-drying, and re-styling their hair. So, I’ve put together 6 easy tips to help you maintain that beautifully styled mane through all the holiday fun:

1. Dry Shampoo is Your New Best Friend

Dry shampoo isn’t just for day two (or three). Use it right after your blowout to absorb oils before they even show up. This keeps your hair fresher, longer. My go-to right now is Amika’s Perk Up - It’s doesn’t leave much residue and is extremely effective. If you’re luckier than I am and produce minimal oil, you may not need more than Unite’s U:Dry Clear—it’s lightweight and doesn’t leave any residue. Plus, it smells amazing! 😌

2. Tie Your Hair Up Loosely Before Bed

We all know the struggle of waking up to a frizzy, tangled mess after a night’s sleep. The fix? Tie your hair up in a loose braid, low ponytail, or bun before hitting the pillow. This keeps your style intact and prevents breakage while you sleep. I personally prefer a velvet scrunchie + headband combo (to keep my skincare products off of my hair). If you have extensions and choose to opt for a headband, be sure to not pin the corners up and out of place with your headband. This can cause them to lift and they will want to stay in that position, making them stick out of your hair and show during the day.

3. Keep Your Curls Simple & Touch-Up Friendly

When curling your hair, go for a pattern that’s easy to replicate and touch up when needed. And always use a heat protectant! My favorite is Good Behavior from IGK. It has frizz control, is humidity resistant and is a dry spray that you can use to protect your hair from irons. 4. Prep Your Hair for Long-Lasting Style

It all starts in the shower! Use a lightweight shampoo and conditioner combo to avoid weighing down your hair. After that, opt for a non-greasy leave-in product to protect your strands and keep oil at bay. This simple step can make a world of difference in how long your style lasts. Need recommendations? They’re so personalized for this step but you can see my general favorites here. 5. Moisturize Before Brushing

Before brushing your hair out at the end of the day, apply a lightweight moisturizing serum. This prevents breakage when you brush and helps preserve the integrity of your style. I recommend Unite’s Blonda Oil : it’s marketed to blondes, but it’s truly just a more lightweight version of their original argan oil and it’s perfect for a silky, refreshed look!

6. Opt for Soft & Romantic Updos

If you’re going for an updo, choose a soft and romantic style. Not only is this look timeless, but you can also let down those curls the next day and rock them for round two of holiday fun! Repurposing is key during the busy holiday season.
